The University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) provides computing, networking, and information resources to support its mission of professional and academic excellence. Use of these resources is a privilege granted to students, staff, and authorized guests.
This policy applies to all users of University-owned or managed computing devices, network infrastructure (wired and wireless), and digital services, whether accessed on-campus or remotely.
User Identity: Access to the network must be made through authorized credentials provided by the IT Office. Users are responsible for all activities conducted under their account.
Role-Based Access: Users must connect only to the network segments (SSIDs/VLANs) designated for their specific role (e.g., Student, Staff, or Guest).
Credential Security: Sharing passwords, encryption keys, or bypassing authentication protocols is strictly prohibited.
To ensure high-quality service for the entire community:
Academic Priority: Academic and administrative traffic takes precedence over personal or recreational use.
Bandwidth Integrity: Users must refrain from activities that cause excessive strain on network resources or intentionally degrade performance for others.
Personal Use: Incidental personal use is permitted provided it does not interfere with University operations, violate any policies, or result in additional costs to the University.
System Integrity: Users may not attempt to circumvent network security, "sniff" traffic, or gain unauthorized access to University servers and data.
Data Privacy: All users must comply with national data privacy laws and University regulations regarding the handling of sensitive information.
Device Safety: Any personal device connected to the University network must be kept updated and free of malicious software that could compromise the campus infrastructure.
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
Illegal Acts: Using the network for any purpose that violates local or international laws.
Intellectual Property Infringement: Unauthorized downloading, distribution, or sharing of copyrighted material (e.g., software, music, movies).
Harassment: Using University resources to transmit offensive, threatening, or harassing material.
Commercial Use: Using University infrastructure for personal commercial gain or unauthorized advertising.
While the University respects the privacy of its users, it reserves the right to monitor network traffic and inspect University-owned systems to ensure security, maintain system integrity, and investigate policy violations. Users should have no expectation of complete privacy when using University resources.
Violation of this policy may result in:
Temporary or permanent loss of network access.
University disciplinary action in accordance with the Student or Employee Handbook.
Legal action or referral to law enforcement, where applicable.
The IT Office reserves the right to modify these guidelines as technology and security requirements evolve. Continued use of the network constitutes acceptance of the most recent version of this policy.
